Málaga’s Padrón is a city-level procedure
Málaga maintains its own Padrón service and electronic headquarters. The correct application route depends on whether you are registering for the first time, changing address, or updating an existing record.
The Padrón records the local address where you normally live. It does not create immigration status or replace a national residence document.
Check the live office and appointment route
The city’s Sede is the safest starting point for current forms and service access. Málaga can use different channels for information, certificates, first registration and address changes, so avoid relying on an old appointment page.
Keep any appointment confirmation or electronic receipt. If the city sends a request for clarification, answer through the official channel.
Use the document list for your household
Prepare identity documents for everyone, evidence for the dwelling and any household authorisation the city requests. Foreign civil-status documents may need translation or legalisation; check the current municipal instructions before filing.
Do not submit a generic address document that does not describe your actual living arrangement.
Renewal can be important for some non-EU residents
Málaga publishes a separate renewal route for non-EU residents who do not hold a permanent residence permit, with a two-year renewal cycle. This is a Padrón obligation, not an extension of an immigration permit.
Put the next renewal date in your own calendar and verify the city’s live instructions because the applicable category and evidence can change.
Common questions
Can I register in Málaga if I live in a nearby town?
The Padrón belongs to the municipality where you normally live. If your address is outside Málaga city, use that municipality’s service.
Where do I book the Málaga Padrón appointment?
Start at Málaga’s official electronic headquarters and select the current Padrón or empadronamiento service. The active channel can depend on the application type.
Do all non-EU residents renew every two years?
Not all cases. Málaga’s published guidance targets non-EU residents without a permanent permit. Check your category and the current renewal instructions.
Does the Padrón replace my residence permit?
No. It records a municipal address and does not replace a visa, residence card or other immigration authorisation.
