A short-stay visa is not a long-term move
For a stay longer than 90 days, check the appropriate national route before travelling. A short-stay Schengen visa does not by itself provide long-term residence or work permission in Italy. Nationality exceptions and special mobility cases can apply, so use the official visa checker.

Residence registration is another procedure
